"Bricks have fallen,
but we will rebuild with cut stone;
Sycamores have been felled,
but we will replace them with cedars."

Kiss the face of God

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the many blessings You have bestowed on Saint Mary Church and School over this past century and a half.

Please continue to confer favor on us and on the communities of German Village, downtown, and the near South, West and East sides which we serve.

We are facing many challenges and taking on many responsibilities in our Saint Mary Church & School Campaign so that our parish can continue our ministries of worship, education, and outreach to the community.

We ask for Your Guidance and Your blessing to unite and strengthen us as we move forward in the endeavor.

We pray for truly generous hearts to respond to our needs, but most of all, we pray for Your continued Divine Providence and care for Saint Mary Parish and all she serves for generations to come.

We ask this in the name of Jesus and through the intercession of his Blessed Mother, patroness of Saint Mary Parish.

A letter from Fr. Kevin Lutz

Dear Parishioners, Parents, Staff, Friends and Neighbors of St. Mary’s,

Kevin Pic 1.jpg

With the approval of our Bishop, I have initiated a Capital Campaign planning process at St. Mary’s.  We are blessed with the Campaign Co-Chair leadership of Peggy and Mike Hartshorn who are parishioners and leaders of local, national and international causes.  They also worked on the 1988 Campaign here.  The Hartshorns will be reaching out to fellow parishioners to build a Campaign Steering Committee for our fundraising efforts.  Please call the parish office at (614) 445-9668 and ask for Sheila if you can help us.

Mike & Peggy Hartshorn

The two of us have our roots in three different Saint Mary churches in the Columbus Diocese. We were both formed by Saint Mary Parish, church and school in Lancaster, Ohio, where we grew up together. Peggy’s German immigrant ancestors helped found Saint Mary Parish in Portsmouth. We chose Saint Mary in German Village as our first parish after we married and moved to Columbus, and our son Tim was Baptized and Confirmed here. Tim and our daughter Katy attended Saint Mary Grade School. Peggy served on the 1980’s Renovation Committee for 8 years, and we both helped with Pre-Cana, were Eucharistic Ministers, and volunteered for the School.  Although we later moved to northwest Columbus, we rejoined Saint Mary Parish two years ago, and we are excited to be part of what God is doing here now!
